Injury Prevention
One of the most common knee injuries is an anterior cruciate ligament sprain or tear. Athletes who participate in high demand sports like soccer, football, and basketball are more likely to injure their anterior cruciate ligaments.
Although ACL injuries are most often seen in team sports, 70 percent are incurred with little or no contact with another athlete.
Recent studies have shown that young female athletes sustain more ACL injuries than young males. In fact, young women are two to eight times more likely than their male counterparts to injure that ligament.
A study looking at an injury prevention program for acute ankle sprains in volleyball players saw a twofold reduction after the program had been implemented.
If you have any concerns about yourself or your child being vulnerable to an injury, call us at (613) 968-6600 to set up an injury prevention screening test.
